Foreword

I consider myself a modern-day Renaissance woman. My primary profession is leading software engineering organizations, but at my core, I am a maker with a flair for creativity and a passion for innovating with technology. I embrace the philosophy of working hard to play hard, constantly dreaming up new projects and adventures to push my physical, intellectual, and creative boundaries. I love tech.

Life is short, and my approach is simple: if something doesn’t work, pivot and try something new.

I created this site as a platform to explore and showcase my projects and adventures. As such, it is intentionally a work in progress.

Perfection was never the goal.

So here we are. I welcome feedback and new ideas. If you'd like to collaborate on a project, hit me up on LinkedIn.

Some of my pet projects:

My Tenets

  1. Lead by Example
Your actions speak louder than words. Demonstrate excellence and show others what is possible through your own behavior.
  2. Be Optimistic
Enthusiasm is infectious and energizes your team. A positive attitude fosters a productive environment, while negativity can be detrimental.
  3. Embrace Change
When faced with obstacles, find a way forward rather than resisting. Adopt a mindset of adaptability. Success often requires the ability to pivot when necessary.
  4. Connect and Communicate
Human connection is the foundation for success. Get to know your colleagues, their goals and their achievements. Build a strong network by regularly attending events, reaching out to new people, and facilitating connections for others. Being able to connect the dots is a key to innovation.

  1. First, Seek to Understand
Not all problems require solutions. Ensure you fully understand an issue before deciding if it warrants action. Time is a precious resource—use it wisely.
  2. Plan. Do. Reflect
    Set ambitious, visionary goals.
Maintain laser focus and discipline. Consistency is key to achieving goals, and small actions accumulate over time.
Regularly ask, "Is what I am doing today bringing me closer to my long-term objectives?" Document your progress, reflect often, and adjust as needed.
  3. Learn. Do. Teach.
    Embrace continuous learning.
In his 2019 AWS re:Invent keynote, Werner Vogels's said "there is no compressional algorithm for experience." While true, there are strategies to accelerate opportunities for experience. Progress requires fresh approaches and new tools in your arsenal. Be curious and embrace experimentation. Continuously seek out new perspectives and methodologies and innovation will follow.
Share your discoveries with others, as teaching can be as rewarding as doing.
  4. Dare to be Different
Your personal brand matters. Aim to create unmatched, exceptional experiences. Pay attention to details and know when it's appropriate to break the rules. Innovation often comes from challenging the status quo.
